This screen explains the Hotness of a particular “entity” (Person or Place). It can also show the relevance of a particular Thing to People or Places.

At the top of the screen, the entity being explained is shown. Touching it will show its associated Person, Place, or Thing screen.

Below the entity is a list of Relevances. These items are the People, Places, and Things that entered into the Current Hotness calculation. The most relevent items are listed first. The Relevance value indicates the weight the item had in the calculation.

Each item displays its name, photo, type (Person, Place or Thing), Current Hotness, and Relevance. Touching the item will show the associated Person Screen, Place Screen, or Thing Screen.

A Person or Place becomes relevent to an entity based on its proximity, basic hotness, and other factors. The nearer and hotter it gets, the more relevent it becomes.

A Thing becomes relevant to an entity based on text matching. A background process matches the name of the Thing against text associated with the entity. Entity text includes things like, status and certain parts of profiles found on external services. For example if you have a Thing named “Great”, and reviews of a Place say “Great food and great service”, the Thing becomes relevant to the Place.

A Thing does not have Hotness, so when a Thing is being explained, the Relevant items shown are the People and Places attached to it. The Relevance value indicates the weight the Thing had in the calculation of Current Hotness for that Person or Place. If you touch a Person or Place in the list, you will see it’s screen, and if you touch again you will see the Person or Place’s Explain Screen showing all its relevant items, including the Thing originally being explained.
