Thing Screen
This screen lets you see and adjust settings for a particular Thing.
A Thing is a word, short phrase, or topic of some Interest to you. It does not have Hotness. Instead, it has a level of Interest that is set by you.
The slider lets you set your level of Interest in the Thing, where 99% means extreme interest, 0% means no interest at all, and -99% means extreme disinterest and is a topic you rate negatively.
When Myallo HotList computes the Current Hotness of a Person or Place, it scans the information it has, looking for a match with the Things in your Things Screen. When there is a match, it uses your level of interest in that Thing to calculate a Relevance to that thing. The Relevance is used in the Current Hotness calculation. If you have a positive interest in the Thing, this raises Current Hotness. If you have a negative interest, it lowers it.
The text that is scanned varies, and typically includes some of the information that can be obtained from external services. It might include the note in a Contact, or parts of an online review in a Place, or parts of an online profile of a Person. The content depends on Myallo HotList’s internal processes.
The Thing Name is used to match on the information on a Person or Place in the absence of the optional search term, and is therefore important. The Name field can not be empty.
For example, if you name a Thing “Coffee” and a person has a status of “At the coffee shop”, this can match, and your interest level in the “Coffee” Thing can become Relevant to the Current Hotness calculation for that person.
Upper and lower case is not significant when matching Things to information, but exact spelling is. For example, if you have a Thing named “Flowers” but a person is at “The Flower Factory”, this will not match, because “Flowers” does not match “Flower”.
