I'm unable to log onto my Mac with this app. It's running Lion and it brings up the login screen but the entry fields are frozen and I cannot enter my name and password. Is there any way to allow this app to do automatic logins like most other vnc apps?

Airmote uses the password you set in the System Preferences Sharing pane, under Remote Management - Computer Settings, next to the "VNC viewers may control screen with password" checkbox. Your regular login password is not used.

The most common problem when trying to connect over 3G rather than the WiFi local network is getting through your router firewall. Airmote needs access to port 5900, and this is often turned off by default. How to turn on varies depending on the router or firewall software, but one way to check if port 5900 is open, is to use a site like this one. Enter 5900 in the custom port test field and you'll find out if that port can be accessed from outside your local area network. If not, you have to fiddle with firewall settings.

I am trying to control my Mac over a 3G cellular network, and can't. I have remote management enabled, and the IP address/DNS location saved to the iPhone (I am trying both), but am not sure which password I should be using. However, I am trying both the Airmote password I created and my MAc login, with no luck. I do not know how to make sure the phone can reach the MAc through the appropriate port. Help, please?

Brad my first guess would be some kind of firewall problem. For AirMote to connect, it needs port number 5900 to be open. You might be able to fiddle with this. You could also tell AirMote to connect over a different port number which is open, but it can be trickier to get the target computer to look for a different port.

Hi I just downloaded your Airmote app for the iphone. I have looked at a lot of app like this but the reason I chose your app is because your app said it can work on only on WiFi but also using the mobile network. Considering I do not have WiFi at work this was huge! So I instantly downloaded. But I am having trouble getting my phone and my laptop connected. Can you help!!!
